Concealed hinge that closes doors gently and automatically

The innovation clears up all the problems that were previously associated with the development of such a hinge. The additional components not only adapt to the concealed technology. The hinge also remains fully functional: it can be adjusted in three dimensions and ensures that the door can be opened up to an angle of 180 degrees. In this state, it remains open; the self-closing mechanism only starts to work from an opening angle of approximately 110 degrees. With this new solution, Basys is focusing on doors weighing up to 80 kg.

The “Pivota DX Close” is equipped with a steel hinge and a closing cylinder connected to it, which disappears in the door groove like the hinge. Thus the technology works in concealment when the door closes automatically. The closing cylinder pulls on the hinge in a controlled manner. For greater security and convenience, the mechanism, which does not require a separate door closer, slows the door down before it gently drops into the lock.

With its concealed hinge, which closes doors gently and automatically, Basys won the “Iconic Award: Innovative Interior” in the building equipment category. The prize honours the best from all areas of interior design. It considers and evaluates the objects in their interaction, interior design in the context of interior architecture. The results serve as a trend barometer for the entire interior design industry.

The expert jury selected the winners of the “Iconic Awards: Innovative Interior 2018”. 30 products received the highest award “best of best”, including the “Pivota DXS 101 3-D Close” by Basys. The jury gave the following reason for awarding the concealed hinge from Basys: “An ingenious solution that provides elegant protection for automatic closing mechanisms on the insides of doors weighing up to 80 kg”. Among other things, the criteria of utility value, overall concept, functionality and operability, design quality, degree of innovation, durability, product aesthetics, safety and accessibility played a role.

At BAU 2017 in Munich, Basys had already won the Architecture + Construction Innovation Award for the concealed hinge “Pivota DXS 101 3-D Close” with self-closing mechanism.
