On 17 April 2024, our father, Albert Bartels Sr, passed away at the proud age of 90. We as sons and the entire BaSys team mourn him as a father and co-founder of the company. He was able to live at home with his wife Margret in his familiar surroundings until the end, for which we are very grateful. Even though he reached the age of 90 this year, his death came unexpectedly and suddenly for all of us.

Albert Bartels Sr. was Managing Director of the ONI plant in Hohenhausen for many years until the opportunity arose in 1995 to acquire the company together with his son Albert. The two seized this opportunity and founded Bartels Systembeschläge GmbH together. A technician through and through, he drove product ideas forward – often in close co-operation with our customers. He was never afraid to take on big challenges with a strong will to fight. He loved investing in production technology, and the negotiations were always a great attraction for him. Full throttle, you could say, was often his motto.

He was also very involved in society, influencing local politics as a councillor and for decades he managed the water procurement association that supplies fresh water to households in his home village of Hohenhausen. The employees appreciated him for his straightforward manner and his willingness to help – also and above all with private problems. In 2011, he passed the baton to his son Jürgen, who has been with the company since 2001. He then remained with Bartels Systembeschläge GmbH in an advisory capacity, but gradually retired.

In him we have lost a role model in many ways, a kind-hearted father and person and, of course, our senior boss. We will duly honour his memory.
