Easy function for heavy doors: Door hinges from Basys as reliable load carriers
Increasing door weights and larger door panels are demanding hinge systems with a high load-bearing capacity. Basys will be demonstrating solutions in the field of concealed hinges and a barrel hinge that is suitable for 350 kg doors at the Fensterbau Frontale 2018 trade fair.
A new member of the “Pivota DX” product range has already made its debut, at BAU 2017. Developed for heavy-duty applications, the “Pivota DXS 180 3-D Steel” hinge is made of solid steel and stainless-steel joints, and carries a standard load of 300 kilograms per pair. Its special kinematics permits claddings in a thickness of up to 8 mm.
The new model has the same mortising dimensions as the “Pivota DX 120” (160 kg load-bearing capacity per pair) and “Pivota DX 180” (200 kg load-bearing capacity per pair) models which makes it easier to change doors. The manufacturer uses hybrid technology to provide mortising compatibility within the model groups: load-bearing capacity is determined by material composition alone – the mortising dimensions remain unchanged.
The “Pivota DXS 300 3-D” is also classified as a load carrier within the product range: it is capable of supporting 350 kilograms per pair and is made entirely of steel. This gives the hinge an RC4 break-in resistance class. With an increasing share of steel, the hinges are also recommended for smoke and fire protection.
At the heart of the “Pivota DX” hinge series is the design principle that was developed and patented by Basys. It reliably supports door-leaf weights and gives permanently maintenance-free and smooth mechanical action even to extremely heavy and frequently used doors.
A demonstration of strength
The hinge system “Objecta 2239/160/56-4 S” with “STV 135/56 3-D” for the field of heavy-duty doors is a demonstration of strength. The barrel hinge has successfully passed the tests for doors weighing 350 kilograms. When developing the product, the focus was not only on the hinge itself but, above all, on the hinge receiver. With its construction principle – with fixing pins as well as high-quality bearing materials – this model follows the renowned system approach of the “Objecta” door hinges.
With the “Objecta” product range, Bartels Systembeschläge has designed a door-hinge system which, equally as practical as aesthetically pleasing, is geared to a high frequency of opening and closing cycles while requiring no maintenance throughout its service life. This is ensured by the high-quality bearing system in which flange bushings with enlarged sliding surfaces are embedded in a special plastic for minimum friction. “Objecta” door hinges are tested and certified in accordance with DIN EN 1935 and conform to CE hinge classes 11 and 14 respectively.
A fixing pin featured in all left and right-opening “Objecta” door hinges distinguishes the product from the usual standard. Acting as fixing pins, the grub screws provide the additional benefit of burglary protection because when the door is closed they prevent the hinge pin from disengaging and the shaft from being driven out easily. These heavy-duty hinges also meet the demands on smoke protection, fire protection, sound insulation as well as escape safety.
The “Objecta” hinge for the field of heavy-duty doors is available for rebated and non-rebated door geometries. Basys also supplies mounting accessories, such as retaining plates for surrounding frames.
